Hollywood Studios 101
Step into the spotlight at Disney's Hollywood Studios, where the magic of the silver screen comes to life! Hollywood Studios is split into
9 main areas: Hollywood Boulevard (the park's main entrance), Star Wars: Galaxy Edge, Grand Avenue, Echo Lake, Toy Story Land, Animation Courtyard, Pixar Plaza, Commissary Lane and Sunset Boulevard.
Here is a quick breakdown of what to find in Hollywood Studios:
Hollywood Boulevard:
This is the main entrance area to Hollywood Studios. Here you can find the lockers, wheelchair and stroller rentals, First Aid, Guest Services, as well as numerous shops and dining options. If you look straight ahead you’ll see the famous Chinese Theater, former home to The Great Movie Ride, now Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad. Check out some of the famous handprints on the sidewalk out front!
Echo Lake:
Hollywood Boulevard leads to Echo Lake – if you see the giant dinosaur you’re there! This area has the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!, Star Tours, The Frozen Singalong, an Olaf meetup and some shopping and dining options and our favorite Disney bar the 50s themed Tune-in Lounge. *Main Street 101 Fact - Did you know the dinosaur’s name is Gertie, and was one of the first animated characters in the history of film (1914) and one of the inspirations for Walt Disney’s career!
Commissary Lane:
In this passageway there is a Mickey and Minnie meetup and the Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater Restaurant where you can sit in your own car and watch old sci-fi movies on screen. Food isn’t the best, but the ambience is fun and it’s a nice break from the heat.
Grand Avenue:
Next to Commissary Lane is Grand Avenue home of the Muppet*Vision 3D show – one of Jim Henson’s final projects. There are some dining options in this area as well, Pizza Rizzo’s, Baseline Tap House & Mama Melrose Italiano.
Star Wars: Galaxy Edge:
Aka - Star Wars land! This incredibly immersive area has character meetups like the Mandalorian & Grogu (baby Yoda), Rey, Kylo Ren & Stormtroopers. It’s also where you can find Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. For the real fans in your family, you can build your own Lightsaber and Droid! Check out several Star Wars shops, and some eats - try the Blue or Green Milk *Main Street 101 Tip: These are an acquired taste - we like them better spiked! Galaxy Edge is also home to Oga’s Cantina a Star Wars themed bar with really unique out of this world drinks.
Toy Story Land:
Toy Story Land has some of the best theming in all of Disney – from Andy footprints on the ground, to all the fun toy pieces scattered around. Toy Story land is home to Toy Story Mania a fun 3D arcade like shooting game, Slinky Dog Dash a family friendly rollercoaster & Alien Swirling Saucers a fun spinning attraction. There are also some fun character meetups like Woody, Buzz & Jessie, as well as drumming Green Army Men. There are two dining options, Quick Service Woody’s Lunch Box and Table Service Roundup Rodeo BBQ.
*Main Street 101 Tip: There is little shade in this land, so take it slow on hot days.
Pixar Plaza:
Right off of Toy Story land is Pixar Plaza where you can meet some of your favorite Pixar characters: Sully from Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, Frozone and Edna Mode.
Animation Courtyard:
There are lots of character meetups here: live-action Ariel, Disney Junior characters such as Doc McStuffins, and Star Wars Characters like Darth Vader & Chewbacca in the Star Wars Launch Bay. The Animation Courtyard also hosts the Disney Junior Play & Dance - a nice break for little kids to dance around with some of their favorite Disney Junior characters.
*Main Street 101 Tip: Don’t miss the Walt Disney Presents gallery showcasing Walt Disney and the amazing impact his life has had.
Sunset Boulevard:
The Sunset Boulevard area has that old Hollywood feel. Here you can find thrills like Rock ‘n Roller Coaster and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror along with shows like Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage and Fantasmic! a nightly outdoor musical spectacular.
*Main Street 101 Tip: Fantasmic! is a must see, it's full of characters and songs we all love.
